The Azores are a set of nine Portuguese islands “lost” in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Voted by National Geographic Traveler magazine as the second best islands in the world for sustainable tourism, the Azores’ main island is São Miguel, and this is the island we will explore.

We leave Ponta Delgada to visit the west side of the island and meet the wonderfulLagoa das Sete Cidades, as well as the surrounding lagoons. After we travel the lagoon by the upper part, where the ocean can also be seen, we will then travel all the way down and have lunch next to the water! To end the day in the best way, we will enjoy an amazing experience of swimming in the warm volcanic waters of the ocean atPonta da Ferraria(about 40ºC).
We sleep overnight at Vila das Furnas, where we will be sleeping for the remaining days of the tour, and wake up this day to ride off and discover the beauty of the Ilhéu de Vila Franca do Campo. After the ferry crossing, we will arrive in this mystic place, which is a volcano crater in the middle of the sea, that creates a natural pool where we will have the opportunity to relax and dive in the clean and colorful water, where a diversity of fauna and flora can be seen.
After having lunch with an amazing scene of the island in background, we will then meet the wonderful landscapes of Azores, where the sights and lagoons will be strongly present mainly in Caldeira Velha, a hot waterfall that reminds us that the volcanic island is still alive. At the end of the day, we will meet an ex-libris of São Miguel - Lagoa do Fogo.
Another extraordinary day is waiting for us and we will start our course in Lagoa das Furnas and its sights. We will then move to the north of the island where we will visit the traditional tea factory, one of the most important cultural items of the island, driving through some wonderful beaches until the second most important city of the island, Ribeira Grande, where its Gothic and Manueline architectural heritage can be found on the type of constructions and monuments.
We leave to the northern region of te island, where the majestic Serra da Tronqueira and Pico Bartolomeu will be waiting for us.
Afterwards, we will find the most coastal area of this region, driving through great roads and beautiful landscapes on our way to the mandatory waterfalls of Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeirões.
Back to Ponta Delgada, we will meet the old part of town, and drive through the wonderful Água de Alte beach and the scenic Porto da Caloura.
